Parents and Students
As this school year comes to an end I want to thank you for an incredible year. I have learned I love teaching 2nd grade and couldn't have asked for a better group of children to discover that love. You have an insatiable desire to learn and grow. Thank you parents for letting your amazing children spend so much of their day with me. I appreciate the amount of volunteers and support at home this year as well. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and I can't wait to see you all next year.

New Spelling Procedures
I am attempting a new way to teach and assess spelling and language. I will continue to teach spelling patterns and language use and conventions. Students will no longer have a weekly spelling test. Therefore they will not have any spelling homework. Each day students will write in a journal. They are permitted to write about ANYTHING! Students are applying what they have learned regarding language use and conventions in their daily journal. They have roughly 10-15 minutes each day. I have developed a rubric based on the second grade performance standards. The students are very familiar with these standards and know my expectations. The upcoming week's homework will have a different format. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for your support!

Write a short message by Friday, March 6 to receive a treat. Hmmm...what will it be this time? Remember to only leave your first name.
Hope to hear from you,
